The Hammer Throw events are the parts of the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge and will be in 2 stages on 2 and 3 July 2011

The Hammer Throw Challenge program (men & women) will be by the following formula:

Saturday, 2 July - Stage One

  • Each athlete will have three (3) trials - the athletes with the top four results in each event will be eligible to compete in Stage Two on Sunday.
  • The athletes placed 5th to 8th in each event will be awarded the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge prize money designated for those placing.
  • Athletes finishing in 5th place and below may count their performances in Stage One towards the overall IAAF World Hammer Challenge Ranking.
Sunday, 3 July - Stage Two
  • Each athlete will have four (4) attempts. The men's and women's events will be staged simultaneously.
  • The athletes placed 1st to 4th in each event based on the Stage Two results only will be awarded the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge prize money designated for those placing.
  • Athletes competing in Stage Two may count their performances in Stage Two only towards the overall IAAF World Hammer Challenge Ranking.
